BBC Radio 1 DJ Colin Murray has been handed a new role on Radio 5 Live hosting the Saturday morning cult quiz show Fighting Talk.
Murray takes over as the show's ringmaster from Christian O'Connell, who this week joined Virgin Radio as its new breakfast show host, and will make his first appearance on February 4 at 11am.
"Colin is one of the most interesting and dynamic broadcasters around. And he's keen to have a foothold in 5 Live, " said Bob Shennan, the controller of 5 Live.
Murray has already experience of Saturday mornings on the station after standing in for Eamonn Holmes on several occasions.
Mr Shennan said he believed Murray's quick wit and intelligence made him the ideal candidate to replace O'Connell, who made the show his own after taking over from its creator Johnny Vaughan, the original host.
Fanatical Liverpool football supporter Murray will be called upon to keep a panel of experts in line while they give their spin on the week's sporting events, awarding points for informed comments and penalising any witless outbursts, of which there are usually many.
Better known as one half of Radio 1's afternoon team alongside Edith Bowman, Belfast-born Murray is a former journalist who previously hosted Radio 1's The Session in Northern Ireland and fronted reports on Channel 4's breakfast show RI:SE.
