i thought i asked this before here, but i couldn't find it. anyhow, i can't figure out how to listen to the world cup at work, since all games are when i have to be at my desk. boo. i did ask metafilter, and they gave me some good suggestions.

one of which is get a proxy to fool the bbc to thinking i'm in the uk. how can i do that? i figured this might be a good place to ask.

Well, first you'll need to find a reliable UK based proxy server, Proxy 4 Free maintains a pretty good list of them. Second you'll need to enter the proxy details into your stream player, how you do this depends on what software you're using. Finally, you'll need to grab the stream rtsp address from the bbc site and open it with your player. Viola!

Radio 5 live or 5 live extra? Can't you stream those in the US normally?

fish heads, they don't actually stream games they don't have the international rights to. so when i'm listening to the stream, and a good international game, like the champions league, comes on, the stream switches to this message saying that they can't stream it due to international rights. boo.

you'd think i'd be close enough. i mean, i'm grumpy and i support losing football clubs, but sadly no. i don't have enough money, nor the balls to do such a crap accent to pull it off like madonna.

so i got the proxy working, and i think it was a bit easier than i expected, but i'm not sure if it'll actually work come world cup. i can get stuff that has that pocky uk commons license, so they think i'm one of you, but i can't find anything that's streaming that's restricted. i'm tempted to stay up for the england friendly, but i'm pretty sure my boyfriend will be against that. so does anybody know of anything i could test this out on?
