Well, I just thought your moderators might like to know that some members are driving people away - good luck with your silly little club. I see now why Chris Moyles himself has boycotted the place.

Chris Harris has said she has a point, which is fine. Just wondering what others think?

Maybe, since i come back ive noticed a lot of new members spamming up general forum.

I can see where shes coming from although i havent experienced any of it.. yet..

Everyone only has so much patience, and when new members constantly slag us off over what Chris has said (which is mostly a one sided view) its hard not to snap.

Most of the abuse Hunniebuns was from other newbies and Tombugler.

'Nuff said.

its fair enough. if the new members are interesting and witty then they will be fine. however if they sign up and go "youre all geeks who work at mcdonalds get a life stop slaggin off chris if you dont like it dont listen" then they should expect it.

I 100% agree with that, if new people do come along and insult people like that, they cant realistically think they're going to get away with it really.

Its a regular occourance that new people on website are naturally going to be picked on by the older members, obviously there's a limit as to how harsh people should be to new people, (for example sticking my head on a sheeps body  ) but deffinately, if people are going to have a go at us, we cant just sit here and take it.

There's kinda double standards going on. It's alright for Quincy and Fishheads to post absolute shit which is totally irrelevant to the world nethermind the show, but it's funny cos they're 'regulars'. Everyone can post LOLZY!!!111!!!11 which is apparently funny, or if they get really desperate for something to post and can't think of a single word even they can post random pictures...

When new people come and post a thread about the show they get shot down by the 'regulars' who obviously haven't listened to the show to know what the threads on about (Topher and Joels passport picture comes to mind..).

I don't understand, If you don't listen to the show then why are you still here?

Fair point.. I didn't hear that bit of the show. However, if someone posts an image of Joel's passport picture, with no explanatory text, regardless of whether it's been on the show or not, I think that you should expect someone to ask what the hell it is - although it's a fan site, not all of us listen to every minute of every show.

Mcqueen_ wrote:I don't understand, If you don't listen to the show then why are you still here?

I listen to the first hour or so of most shows. After that I'm at work so I can't (I don't have the time to listen again.)

Although, I think even if I didn't listen, I would still visit. Recently others have left because they no longer listen, but I still think it's a laugh on here because there is the opportunity for healthy debate on a wide range of things, not exclusively Moyles. Although he is the reason for the site and board being here, there is plenty of discussion outside that subject area. If that were to stop and I didn't listen, I probably wouldn't visit.

I didn't read your reply as a question as to what the thread was about, seemed more like an oportunity to have a dig at Fathomer to me.

In general if people don't care about a thread there's no need to post for the sake of posting.

But that's the problem. People who use to listen still come and post and exclude the current listeners. I'm not saying that the board should be exclusively Moyles, but it should be exclusively Moyles fans (ie current listeners).

Moyles has changed, but the people who have been here years haven't and have prevented the site as a whole changing. Years ago anytime Moyles was in the news there would be discussion about it, topics about events on the show and highglights of the show. Now most regulars don't care which results in the negative comments overriding the positive.

The members use to go through regular cycles of changing when they stopped listening to Moyles, but for the last few years people have stuck around a bit too long.

I can't speak of years ago, because as people who have been here a long time go, i'm a relative newbie. However I'd still say it's the case that when Chris is in the news the board is still packed with topics - just look at the Halle Berry incident this week. If that compares or not with the old times, I cannot say but I wouldn't say the blame lies 100% with the members, it's just that over time, as you say, Moyles has changed so people are used to him being in the news and thus are desensatised to it to an extent where a mention in the paper when he was on say early breakfast is different for a mention in the paper know he is on breakfast proper.

However, that's not to say none of the blame lies with the members at all (in fact I think you bring up some very interesting points - the most sensible discussion of this board's position in a very long while) it's just the "Moyles climate" has changed as well as this board

The internet, the way it is used, and the people who access it has changed vastly in recent years. It used to take someone with an understanding of computers to know how to get around but in the past 2-3 years the internet has developed into a major tool and hence everyone, stupid or not, are accessing sites about anything they choose. I enjoy posting here due to the fact that all the regulars dont use the forum like all the teenagers rampaging around the net, and they realise the internet is the internet and dont treat it like real life.

That's a good point Dickie. Most of the newbies now are kids posting as though this site is MSN messenger. Why should we just put up with it? You can't just say that the type of people now using the internet means that websites shouldn't be used for their intended purpose.

i think part of the problem is that all us regulars are too old to get it. i dunno. maybe i should leave for the benefit of the site. jono is the future of this place i bet. idiotic ass kissing.

That is a great point. I agree with most of what McQueen said actually.

As much as we agree Unofficial Mills kisses up to Mills and the show too much, it's in sync with the show. Team members do interviews, post, get people on air etc - all positive promotion. Although UM is a blatant rip off of this site - this place is now seemingly hated by the guy its about, and getting a reputation for slagging the show (when it has it's highest listenership ever, and has just won a Gold Sony award).

good points mc, but what can we do? i know i'm not actually involved in any of the moyles related stuff here, but if regular members are too apathetic, and new members come on to slag the board per moyles' instructions and then belittle eachother till they disintegrate, what can we do?

We could try and get Moyles (and other team members) to contribute to the forum. Aled does a great job with answering our questions, and it might be nice to have Chris and the others answer stuff as well. Maybe set up some live chats, we already have a chatroom, so all it would take is setting up time/dates.

We could also set up other interactive things on the site, like [moyles related] games and quizzes.

Just throwing some ideas out there.

These are good ideas, but Chris's on air persona in particular always suggests that we are "geeks", even if he really thinks otherwise and after the last chatroom "incident" it'll probably be an absolute nightmare to convince him. A sort of catch 22. No harm in trying though

That only occured because we didn't believe it was him. If we had known it was him we'd have probably kissed his ass.

and because many people have gone in the chat room before and pretended to be Chris (and been very convincing), why would that time have been anything different?
