Wright-Phillips, Rio and Rooney's rap show

Chelsea football star Sean Wright-Phillips plus Manchester United stars Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand are to host a new TV talent show called Hip Hop Idol.

The trio will help to search the country for the best young rapper in the UK. The show was inspired by Eminem's film 8 Mile, The Sun reports.

"They thought it would be great to use their high profile to help find new talent on a face-off rap show," a source is quoted saying. Aspiring MCs will battle it out before a panel of judges with Rooney himself said to be planning a microphone battle with Portsmouth striker Lomana Lua Lua!

Rooney should be careful, though. If Lua Lua can do verbal somersaults like the physical ones he celebrates goals with, the usually tongue-tied Scouser will be mincemeat. If Rooney took on little Wrighty he could use such lines as: 'Hey Wrighty we gonna tell you what's up / Chelsea pay you well but are you going to the World Cup?'

Several channels are bidding for the series, which should reach our screens by November.

holler! its gonna be big baby! and rather hilarious
