Sorry to drag this back up but... I've been a critic of F1 since about 1998 time, when I believe it became boring. There is argument to say it became boring before then but Damon Hill was competing up to then and I was a big fan.

Possibly the reason I think today's F1 is boring is because I have remember the golden days of Senna, Prost and Mansell (although the latter is an arrogant tosser.) They were truly competitive and exciting.

So when I was given tickets to go to the British Formula 3/GT Championships at Silverstone this weekend, I was delighted, in no small part due to the fact that a certain Bruno Senna (nephew of the late, great Ayrton) is currently competing in F3. Bruno has only been racing a year and is already showing huge signs of promise, I truly believe he will end up at a top level - the only question as far as I'm concerned is will it be F1 or A1 (which I am gutted I can't get because it's on Sky.)

I really think that had it not been for Ayrton's death in 1994, he would have been the man to challenge and beat Michael Schumacher in many of his subsequent world championship victories (all of which came after said death.)

Anyway I'm going off on a tangent, basically I had a brilliant weekend and watch out for Bruno in the future...

Next season should be good to...going to be alot of changes, team wise and I think they are going to scrap the rule of having to keep the same tyres.

Depends how far back you go - if you're talking about the recent previous years where one man and his team have dominated then I'd agree, but the true Golden Years of F1 were the 80s and early 90s, the days of Senna, Prost, Piquet and Mansell (although Mansell was a right drama queen and a complete tosser.)

Can't wait until Schumacher retires. Although Ferrari seem keen to sign Valentino Rossi who's a bit of an arse.

weird, I bet you didn't complain when it was Williams and McLaren were the ones dominating as Ferrari have the past few years, of course not... and McLaren had to cheat in a few races (til they were rumbled for the extra brake pedal) to get their wins....

I love it when people who loved Williams winning all the time complain about Ferrari doing it, just shows how hypocritical they really are.

A1... I have to admit I've heard nothing about it since the big hoo-haa when it debuted at Brands Hatch, and I think it only got that in this country because the race was in this country. I hear there was f**k-all in the way of overtaking in race 1 and there has been little in races since, this from a series that 'guarantees more overtaking than F1'

Still, theres always GP Masters next weekend in South Africa (being shown on BBC) which has drivers like Mansell, De Cesaris, Alan Jones.. etc in similar cars. Should be better than A1 AND has driver motorsport fans will have actually heard of.

Williams and McLaren have never dominated in the way that Ferrari have though.

McLaren certainly haven't, but Williams had a longish period where they were definitely the team to beat and, it could be said, dominated things. It was when Renault were producing the most reliable engines and they arguably still did have competition with Benetton.

The the thing is when williams or mclaren 'dominated' it was only for short periods, not 4 years. That would get boring.

Exactly. And the last time McLaren won the title Ferrari were also a big contender. Like this season with Renault and McLaren.
