ok, girls just trying to bring a bit of topicalty to the Forum thing.

Google has bought youtube, I was wondering what people felt of this move, and generally views on the need for big business to use the internet to make lots of money, viz a viz the original intention of it.

Which was to mantain communication globally in the event of Nuclear War I think.

I don't think Google can be blaimed for killing creativity! Look at Keyhole (now Google Earth) they brought that and made it better and brought other comapnies (sketch up) for people to be more creative - and as with many Google things ITS FREE!

I recon this could make youtube even faster....will have to wait and see.

I think they will make it better. Google video is actually better for uploading your own videos and short films - You Tube had to put restrictions on file size due to unauthorised clips being uploaded. Hopefully Google will be able to take it back to how it "used to be"

I upload a lot of clips from 'In Bed With Medinner' to youtube and always get emails from people who say 'great to see this again after so many years'. The clips I upload are not available on DVD, will never be commercially released, and the presenter and writer of the prog says he is happy for me to be doing it- he's not being deprived of any money because of me putting stuff on youtube, if anything his profile is expanding a little. Im betting that within 6 months my videos get taken down now google have brought the site. They'll look to commercialise it by putting up official clips of stuff available on dvd (as adverts for it) along with home-made stuff and that'll mean that I wont bother using the site again as im not arsed about seeing either of those sorts of content, just the stuff- like my clips- that I cant actually get anywhere else!!!

I much prefer Google to yahoo, their background is much better and it's a much better place to work apparently, they are also more of a smaller company stuck in a big corporate body
