They are certainly near the top off the current scene, they are possibly the greatest band of the 21st century

Complete garbage - even for the six years we've been in the 21st Century, they wouldn't even come to mind as one of the top 20 for me. I quite liked the singles they released from their first album, but the rest of the album was not all that.

I realise music is subjective, but in my opinion, to bill a band with two albums as "possibly the greatest band of the 21st century" is absolutely ludicrous. You can't be termed as 'great' until you've had at least three very good albums and they've not had one yet...

I'm not quite sure were you've been the last 6 years but they have made 2 superb albums, the second one reaching number 1 in the albums chart, had several top 10 hits and even there forth single from their second album is charting, you can't say that about many indie bands, there collection of B sides is amazing and if yu had any idea of the range of Music they create then i'm sure you'd think differently, mind you, your probably just a chav who knows nothing about decent music

Muse, they have had one superb album, origin of symetry was good, they have never really reached those highs consistantly as yet, but credit were due, think they would come second or third of the 21st century

Coldplay, everysong sounds the same, Embrace are better than codplay, they are mediocre

Each to their own. I'd say Franz Ferdinand's songs sound more similar to each other more than Coldplay's do, but that's my opinion.

When Franz Ferdinand become as good live and produce an album of the same quality, then I will agree.

First time I heard Franz Ferdinand I thought it was The Divine Comedy making a comeback. I quite like them now though.

oo, franz are amazing live, they have a different style to muse though, Both franz albums have been outstanding, the second album could have been better with the inclusion of the songs your diary and fabulously lazy which were B sides because they didn't "fit in" there next album will be better and i cn garentee that,

I disagree, they've had two average (at best) albums.

You can read nothing into the charts these days (singles particularly, but also albums to an extent), it means nothing; the age of downloading has rendered it a bit useless (I realise the charts now include legal downloads, but you can't account for the illegal side of it.)

Oh and calling me a chav for not being keen on your favourite band is a little bit childish.

It is childish. It's even more childish that you can't accept other peoples opinons especially when you asked for them.

As Topher said you can't really read too much into the charts these days but seen as you brought it up, Franz have had what 3 top 10 hits? Put Your Boots on got to the dizzy heights of number 30?

Compare with Coldplay whose every single (8 of them) apart from Shiver has been top 10...

I'm a big fan but after being around a few years it's just stupid to say they're the greatest band of the 21st century and be dilluded if you think you can convince everyone it's true.

It does seem a little redundant to share your opinion, ask for others' and then dismiss them. The nature of opinions is that they are personal - we are not all going to be of the same mind. So why direct derogatory comments (which could be construed as personal insults) on people you have never met, when the ONLY thing you know about them is that they don't worship Franz Ferdinand? No one is saying YOU have to stop thinking they are the best thing in the world - but why you expect everyone else to share that opinion is beyond me! Mind you, many things are.

i met neil young. he's a nice guy.

franz ferdinan are overrated by the haircuts. coldplay is dull, especially considering chris martin is pretty much the only thing in the band and he's supposedly inspired by porn.

divine comedy are ace, though not punk rawk.

Both Franz Ferdinand's albums are fantastic.. they were much better live than I had expected.

McQueen is right though - what is the point of this thread if you ask for peoples opinions on Franz Ferdinand callum, and then slag them off and call people "chavs" just because they don't share your opinion?

I love Muse, Coldplay and Franz Ferdinand and have seen all three live. If you are going to pick one on the basis of that, then Muse win hands down.

No MC, if YOU are going to pick based on that! Isn't that the point you were trying to make?!
