Thinking of the Manchestery area and beyond..

 Go do the Beatles' Stuff in Liverpool.

 Take a ferry 'cross the Mersey.

 Do some Christmas Shopping in York, Edinburgh, or London..

 Go see all the Roman stuff in Chester.

 Spend New Years' in Edinburgh (Hogmanay)... Get tickets for Princes' Street ASAP.. and go have an amazing time..

 Catch the sales in Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool or York.

 Go visit Blackpool and see the lights and the trams.

 Go to Bolton and .. um .. err.. see the .. um.. help anyone?

There's more, but you can always use Google if you're stuck..

Theres the Railway Museum in York thats full of Victorian engineering stuff, and is really worth a visit. York itself is lovely too. There will be loads of Industrial Revolution stuff in the Staffordshire area too - go to Ironbridge, there's a fantastic museum there.

Quite a thick one, it'll be cold especially that time of year. As for shoes - who knows - the weather is so temprimental it could be snowing, icy or just plain windy. Just make sure it keeps your feet warm primarily
