Mark Radcliffe (sadly minus lard these days) on radio 2, 10.30-midnight on a weeknight is worth a listen...other than that its Radio1 all the way for me.

I'm going to see Mark Raafcliffes band on Friday night! Doing his show from Shetland on Thursday!

I'm a big 5 Live fan. Simon Mayo is still excellent. Phil Williams is good too.

The only other show I listen to is Vernon Kay on a sunday morning (just the good bit for the first hour) cos it's really random tunes that are great to listen too. Occasionaly I'll listen to XFM and very rarely if I can't find anything good to listen to on R1 or XFM I may switch over to virgin but I turn back over as soon as they're done with the song I like.

Shh, don't tell anybody about that last bit.

I was just thinking that You (british) are so lucky. You have a really good tv and brilliant radio. Polish radio stations are rubbish. I've been back home couple of months ago and I listened to Radio Zet most famous polish radio station and god! Rubbish all the way. They still play tracks like: She's Like Wind or some classic polish songs from the 80's that are really irritating. If you want to have a go here is the page for most of the polish radio stations broadcasting online http://www.radiostacje.com Let me know what you think

I get stuck with Trent FM at work now, but as im on the phone a lot anyway I don't have to endure it that much. It's only a problem when I'm on late shift and theres not many calls coming in.

Bloody Viking FM is the only thing I can get when I'm cycling in to work. R1 doesn't get into the cuttings :(

I used to live in Nottingham and I couldn't stand Trent FM. Terrible music, terrible presenters. Then only thing good about it was the guy who ran the place was called Dick Stone. That's the only thing that made me chuckle at all as far as that station is concerned.

You have my deepest sympathy.

I remember once the Radio 1 Roadshow came to Liverpool, and we all got handed these little flat radios in cardboard CD-wallets with earphones pre-tuned to Radio 1.

I wonder if they could do a "Give free Radio 1 Radios to all Trent FM listeners" campaign ;)

If Nottingham is how I remember it, most Trent FM listeners (saving those who are forced) would probably try to eat them!

I used to live in Radford and then St Anns (charming Place) so this isn't so far from a joke as some may think.

Trent FM is like Ram FM in Derby and Leicester Sounds, just on a 5 minute delay from each other as they always seem to be playing the same tracks. At night they even have the same damn DJs.

You survived St Ann's? respect, I have to travel through it to get into the city because I live in Mapperly and go straight down the Woodborough Road.

Hmm.. might have to coat them with Bitrex then. Good thinking Andy. Given the pronounced foreheads and knuckles scraping on the ground on the kids in our area, if they're anything like round yours, arsenic may be better. ;)

Ha, no way!

I am at Nottm Trent Uni (just finished my first year) and spent half the year living in Radford and half in St Anns! That is quite spooky! St Anns isn't too bad if you live close to the city centre..

Ha I used to walk down Woodborough Road most days until a couple of weeks ago too! Small world eh?

As for Trent FM. Yes it is poor but it has a real identity with the city. Jo and Twiggy have been doing that breakfast show for 8 years so they're obviously doing something right. DemonHorse is right - Trent, Ram and Leicester Sound are all GCap stations and have the same playlists at the same time (I'm going a bit radio student geek here but Emap stations like Key 103 and Rock FM used to do the same up here). It is why commercial radio is so bad in general.

The choice of radio stations in Nottingham is awful. Trent, Heart, Saga and BBC Nottm and thats it. At least at home I have XFM

That's because it's all part of the GWR Network (never found out what that was for any ides?) and has a centralised broadcasting system based in Nottingham. Programmes like "The Core" and "Late Night Love with Graham Torrington" (if they're still on) are no city specific and sent out to all networked stations, whilst other evening shows have links pre-recorded by presenters which have to be a specific length and then a nifty peice of software puts them and the local adverts into the pre-arranged gaps in the music and ahortens or lengthens them so there is not even the tiniest gap.

I nearly sold my soul and worked for them and got the official tour.

Slightly off topic but I went to Trent too. Worked for the two uni Radio Stations (Fly FM and URN) and was a DJ there two.

8 years mixed between Fridays at Clifton point bar, Climax main room at city site, Rock City a few times, cookie club a few times too.

I shall have to visit my old stomping grounds next term.

http://myspace-649.vo.llnwd.net/00854/9 ... 8649_l.jpg - This is me on my last "Drink the Bar Dry" after 14 hours solid work. I'd got quite...emotional by this point.

Bar-wise I like Cookie Club but I also like Via Fossa, Lloyds and the canalside area in general. Also the Trip to Jerusalem pub is right behind the college I used to work at, so many nights the class would end up there after lesson.

That's everything up to Thursday done, I'll get t[…]
