I love Family Guy as most of the comedy comes from the random moments and therefore more people find it funny than south park which can be poor in some episodes.

If i lived in america of course alot of the references in both programmes would be funnier.

You can't beat the South Park Paris Hilton Special.

Paris Hilton keeps Butters as hr pet after her little dog commits suicide, to escape from Paris' clutches Paris has a slut off with Mr Slave ( Mr Garrisons Boyfriend). Mr Slave wins after putting Paris up his arse.

Personally I'm a big fan of both, and for different reasons. South Park tackles serious issues like Aids, the Bush re-election and Scientology with comedy (and swearing), while Family Guy has been known to tackle a few issues, like censorship (The Freakin' FCC) it's comedy is far more random, and that, for me, works just as well.

Recently someone (I forget who) compared South Park to Family Guy saying the humour was very similar, which is the reason for the episode the above clip is from, as Matt and Trey were outraged. I wonder if Family Guy will retaliate and make it another show it has a feud with.

As for a favourite, I couldn't choose one, but I'm voting on South Park, purely because I hate Fox.

I hate fox too, despite it having produced some of the best comedies of recent times - Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy and Arrested Development.

Despite that all of these shows seem to hate the network that they are on!

I hate South Park so have voted for Family Guy even though I've never watched it.

fox is HORRIBLE for killing good shows (arrested development) and being too lazy to try new shows, thus ressurrecting old shows. i used to love family guy, but since it came back it's been pretty depressing. i guess i liked the extended non-gag to a certain degree, but they just use it too much now and it's too long. it's not quite as funny. i think they bought into their hype and are comfortable being self indulgent like that. it's sorta like how conan o'brien relaised they weren't going to fire him, so he stopped being funny.

To be fair though it probably would have died after season 1 on any other of the main networks.

true, though fox didn't exactly try to keep it. they just let it wimper off into history.

Yeah. Its a hard one though, although I was pissed off at the cancellation of Futurama, I could see their point with Arrested - looking at it from a business POV it made complete financial sense for the criminally poor viewing figures it go.

i can't believe it cost $1,000,000 an episode to produce.

I know. Although when you think about all the gags they cut to for just a few seconds maybe a flashback, you have to realise they have to get a new set, hire child actors etc. Also there is a lot of stuff cut as well. It was very cartoony in that way, but of course it is no extra cost in a cartoon.

The show was all the better for it though

South Park was funny when I was 12, but I'm 18 now and too old for it.

Although I'm sure it's supposed to work the other way round...

I went off south park for a while yet i have always found family guy consistant. Although the other week i did see a south park episode with p.diddy in ripping it out of his "vote or die" campaign which was funny. Especially chasing Stan in his bently.

That's everything up to Thursday done, I'll get t[…]
