Not strictly Chris Moyles centered but............... :?:

Evening all. I'm after a podcasting genius to give me a helping hand about publishing a podcast. I know how to do all the audio stuff (edit/mix e.t.c) and have an MP3 format.
So it's ready to go. But am lost looking for info on how to get it into an RSS an then onto I-Tunes.
How do you upload an audio file to a website?
Anyhelp would be great.

Apple provide a suitable tutorial for podcasting:-

http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/techspecs.html

and there are loads of places you can upload the mp3's to, you just need to find some space. The one I use is Ourmedia.

I've got my own website underconstruction (I'm obviously not designing it - I'm doing well if I can turn a computer on).
Am I right in saying that once its uploaded you can get the RSS?

Yes, once you upload your rss podcast feed to your site, anyone can access it, assumming they have the address of course. If you've got you're own site, can you not upload the mp3's their?

Final question now. Do you have to actually do anything physicaly to your mp3 file when downloaded so it has its own RSS feed? (for instance if it's downloaded to my own site how then do I get and RSS feed
Thats the only thing thats confusing me.

You don't need to do anything to the mp3, aprart from upload it. You then specify the internet location of the mp3 in the rss file, along with the other info.

The rss file is the actual podcast page which tells the podcast receiver all about the podcast, like who made it, what it's about, how long it is and where it is. You'll need to create the rss file, it's a simple plaintext xml file, and the apple link above will show you how to do that.
