Haha what a load of B*llox Ive been browsing this forum for nearly 1 year now and Newbies are being picked on by people who have more posts than them and have been here for years.

Ive always wondered why they dont stay on here long.

Were you picked on? I can't remember an incident where you were.

stupid_sexy_flanders wrote:Michael (I guess that is your name) - there is a difference between text talk and dyslexia.

Yes, there is, and I never said otherwise. My point was that, in the vast majority of cases, the people that use text talk and constantly mispell words aren't dyslexic, but are just too lazy to do otherwise. So, when someone who came along using text talk and mispelling words, the general assumption would not be that that person is dyslexic, but can't be arsed, which is certainly bad netiquette.

stupid_sexy_flanders wrote:Text talk can be beat out of someone.

Terrific! I must remember that.

stupid_sexy_flanders wrote:Slagging off someones spelling publicly when they are dyslexic is no better than laughing at a blind man on the street because he can't see.

Which kind of brings me back to why I brought up Extra's. I don't want to spoil it, but Millman (Gervais) is accused of picking on a down syndrome kid because he asked his mum, without knowing the kid had down syndrome, to get the kid to be quiet (in an expensive restaurant). The point being is that people wouldn't naturally assume that there's something 'wrong' (for lack of a better word) with someone when they are acting in a normal, although annoying/antisocial, way.

Examples?

Take a look at the other threads around this one with people saying hi, and then tell me what's wrong.

Freedom of speech .. that's what this place is really about. It's the least moderated forum you'll find.

Sounds like you're suffereing from a selective memory. At least back up what you say with some examples before you make sweeping generalisations.

Sorry everyone doesn't kiss your arse or constantly delete/edit posts to make everything sound so positive like they do in other places. Welcome to the real world.

It tends to be people trying to find an explanation as to why these people can't spell.I agree with the admin. guy if you can't spell use spellcheck.People who can't hear very well use a hearing aid so why is it offensive to suggest to someone who can't spell to use spellcheck?

Do you realise there is supposed to be a space between a full stop and the next word? (Actually there's supposed to be two but your web browser will only display one anyway.)

This is the most exciting thread I've read in ages.

Brilliant stuff.

Haha. I can tell that you will now treat any reply to this comment as us being offensive or picking on you, and you probably won't post again.

However, if you want to have a proper debate on this matter then let's do so. This board is for proper opinions and discussion - not for MSN or text talk with your mates (like other places). Therefore it surely isn't too much to ask to post in proper English.

As Chris has said, this is one of the most unmoderated forums on the net and you really shouldn't get offended by negative comments thrown your way. It is not as if they are coming from people you know, so why get offended?

Fowler 123 wrote:there should still be limits to what can be said, and i think those limits that should be here in this forum you have crossed big time.

ITS A FORUM!! Why should there be limits? It is not the real world. Even if the guy really is dyslexic, why should someone questioning this offend him? I never get that.

People need to lighten up and enjoy the place - its a fantastic website that won't be around forever. Moyles is at his most popular and we should all be having fun, not accusing others of "picking on" people and turning threads into slanging matches.

You know, judging by Osiris' response to Chris, he wasn't particularly offended anyway - he seems to have taken it all in his stride pretty well! Its everyone else who is getting het up about it...........

And the lack of moderation on this forum is something I am not used to - I find it quite strange - but in many ways its brilliant, for all the reasons MC said. And its not like people NEVER get warned, or banned. Its just that it has to be not just offensive, but persistent to get actioned. I think on balance it is better like this.

Funny Funny Funny.
I agree, we should try and use decent english, but not be too picky unless it's funny, and text language does my head in as I don't know what it means !
This is a great place to play, whilst looking buzy at work, and Yudsters here so that makes up for the "kevin" regulars. MC & Chris are actually I think fairly decent chaps, so welcome all newcomers, bring it on, the more people on here who resist the need to be negative, picky and "sarcastic" the better it will be, but having said that being critcal is a right, a freedom and something we should all respect.

Hola Pastorcita! Just what we need, an international flavour. Welcome! And my Spanish will never be as good as your English, in fact my English might never be as good as your English - so no worries there then!

And If I make up for the "kevins", then Boboff is the antidote to the "lindas". I suppose I'd better apologise to all the Kevins and Lindas out there.....("Linda" means "pretty" in Spanish, doesn't it?!)
