Richard Hammond is a great presenter, and I wish him a full recovery.

One thing is that it must be a 'better' to have a crash in a rocket car at 300mph (Top Gear),
rather than getting blown up in a caravan (Science Abuse / Top Gear), now that would be embarrasing!

They blatenetly do all that stuff on purpose.

It's looking pretty good for Hammond.

If. as seems to be the case, he has not suffered a personality change (which is very common with the type of injury he had), I would think he will want to go back to his life as it was, if that is possible. After all, he enjoyed it, I would think he will want to go back to it. But I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled back a bit - not so much because he was scared, but becasue after a brush with your own mortality, it is pretty normal to want to take more time to smell the roses as it were. I hope he still wants to do Top Gear, but I would be surprised if he doesn't make some changes in his life which will mean he spends more time with his family, lack of which was the only thing he ever used to complain about before apparently. Wouldn't you?

And how cool is the Air Ambulance appeal? It looks like they are well on their way to a whole new helicopter - that's going to make a massive difference to a really overstretched service. All because there were too many flowers to go in the room and Mindy said to donate instead. Brilliant.

Yeah, fantastic - one bloke donated £50,000 according to the BBC.

Wow TWO uberfunny comments in 1 thread... how DO you manage it?

Good to hear that he's walking about and while I doubt he will quit Top Gear because of this, I wouldn't blame him if he did quit. He doesn't seem to be a quitter though.

Now , come on that's sarcasm isn't it.

Please don't take offence, I really like the guy, and I think we obviously all wish him the best of health.

Humour in advercity it's been the way of the English since the dawn of time, well at least since last Thursday.

I doubt he'll quit, the stunt was his idea in the first place!

Yes, the impact of that post was slightly detracted by the '(spelling?)' at the end of conspiracy.

As an aside, people actually live in Tring? I thought it just had a train station and a stuffed animal museum.

He's been moved to a hospital in Bristol now. On the news they showed him walking (gingerly) out of the helicopter into the ambulance when they arrived. The expert on the news package said he thought Hammond would need six months rest..

I was told earlier that he'd gone to the BUPA hospital in Clifton, Hope they havent made a mistake, because thats a Womens Hospital!

It's probably the one on Durdham Downs (near Clifton).

It's good to see him walking, even if gingerly.
I wish him a speedy recovery.

It does, and the rothschild guy who built the town thought it would be a great idea to build the train station miles from the town.

Tring is where Chris Moyles' girlfriend is from, he can often he seen visiting there.

I used to pass Tring every day on the train to and from London. I did go to the stuffed animals museum at one point as well.
