Well... We had a 17 hour delay on the outbound flight, but only really lost half a day - and apart from the missus losing a £200 digi camera three days in, it was an amazing holiday, once in a lifetime.

In a nutshell we swam with dolphins (and spent a small fortune on the photos and DVD, but it had to be done), drove a speedboat in the Caribbean, went snorkelling in the Caribbean, went to Chichen Itza (the ancient Mayan ruins), went to a bullring (out of morbid curiosity and to see the culture - although we left before it finished because we felt uncomfortable with it - it may sound stupid but we were kind of unaware the bull actually gets killed), did parasailing, played tequila volleyball (miss the ball and drink ten seconds of tequila), drank lots of pina colada, strawberry daiquiri, Corona and Dos Equis and basically thoroughly enjoyed it! I'd definitely go again... And I'd even stay in the same hotel again, it was a fantastic hotel, an absolutely incredible experience.

Oh and I won (or came joint first) the Mr Riu competition... Every evening the hotel put on some entertainment in a proper outdoor theatre - this particular evening we were there they wanted four blokes of different nationalities on the stage. They managed American, Canadian and Columbian but wanted English as well... Unfortunately my lovely girlfriend was more than happy to point out that I was English and I, somewhat unwittingly, got dragged on stage. We had to drink beer through a straw, do push ups with a female laying on top of us, do a strip tease (not all the way - thank Christ) and then each of us got dressed up as a different female singer and had mime that singer's song. I was lumbered with Shakira (my previously noted lovely girlfriend was, at this point, extremely eager to take photos.)

I have to say though, without wanting to sound big-headed, the winner was decided on crowd reaction and considering the number of Americans per English person there was probably quite considerably high, I didn't do too badly to draw with the American guy. Although I fully acknowledge that I probably got the sympathy vote because I was the shyest person on stage by far - I had to keep getting told "you're in Cancun, nobody knows you and nobody cares."

Who's bored after all that and who stopped reading after the word "Well..."?

I got the former (though Sarah is browner than me and today my mum told me mine looks fake) - fortunately not the latter...

Ha I doubt it... Sarah had a sore throat from cheering though.

That reminds me I must send a new pic into Harris - maybe one of the 700 I took on holiday (note not all have me in).
