Well with the big movie weekend almost upon us, it only leaves the thread to be done asking you all what film would you choose as your favourite film if you had to pick one for this weekend?

Mine would be Gone In 60 Seconds! Classic in my mind!

I trust you mean the original H.B. Halicki version Pjordan? Althought somehow I doubt it.

I'm afraid your doubts are correct, i refer to the maybe not so classic nicholas cage version.

Ahhhh and therefore by definition, a remake, and non-classic. You should see the original, much better, as most originals are.

I'll have to give it a look. If i'm honest, i did not realise that it was a remake. I wish i could blame it on my youth but seeing as i prefer the original Get Carter and Italian Job to the remakes, that would be a pretty lame excuse.

Anyone who prefers the remake Italian Job to the original should have their eyes poked out so that they may never make the same mistake again.

Victim. Haven't seen it for ages, I'd love to see it again this weekend.

Anyway back to the original question, I don't think I could chose one on it's own. I shall opt for a top five, in no particular order.

1. Star wars (ep 4, 5, and 6 can count as one)
2. The Goonies
3. Big Trouble in Little China
4. Goodfellas
5. Forrest Gump

Ok, if we ever meet, remind me to take you for a meal rather than a movie.

You can hardly call it a remake. It has a vaguely similar plot line and it has the same title. It would have been a far better film if it had had a different title; that way the mini's could have been a cheeky reference to the original film, but it wouldn't have to worry about expectations.

Same goes for Ocean's 11 - there was almost no similarity in plot, or anything much else! I liked the Clooney version though, it was an enjoyable film. Still prefer the Rat Pack one though.

If I'm honest I've never sat through the new Italian Job, I'm judging a book by it's cover, but I can tell you the cover is mega-crap.

Yudyud, was that a subtle invite for a meal? Why couldn't we watch a movie? I have to admit my taste harks back to my childhood, but that's not the definitive top 5, there are way too many to mention...pulp fiction, indiana jones and the raiders of the lost arc, Rain man, aliens, Back to the Future, Godfather, Tron, Leon (can't believe I left that out), the bridge on the river kwai, Lord of the Rings trilogy, ANY Arnie film from the 80's/early 90's (predator, running man, commando) oh I could go on.

Definitely a meal. Keeping you well away from The Odeon.

A friend of mine said it should just be called "job"

The Commitments, Paint your Wagon, Top Gun, Annie & Oliver

They would be my Top 5, with Greece coming in at sixth,

I think I might have some metrosexual taste in films though, which is odd, as I am not like that with anything other than interior design.

I do like musicals films, but all of them, they have to be good, and yes I like Star wars and the Shore Shank Redemption, and Forest Gump, Green Mile, Mrs Doubtfire, and all the Superman & Rockie Movies too, but you can't watch them over and over ( by that I mean 2 or 3 times a year ) like you can with a good musical !

Yudster, can we go to the Odeon on that basis before you take baggie out for Food and then meet up after for a Spit Roast, I'll bring the apple sauce.

Yeah baby, I love a good spit roast.

The last time I had one was at a wedding last summer, I thought it was very generous of the bride and groom to oblige and provide me with such an oppourtunity, but that they did.

It was a jolly good evening.

I had one for Charity about 18 months ago, I sold tickets at £10 a time, and ran the Bar.

We had a jolly good time too, and the Premature baby unit was very appreciative of our efforts, ihhh

Our church has one every year at our fireworks party. 300 people turned up last year, we needed more pigs...! I made the mulled wine lake. Drank a fair bit of it too..........

By the way boboff, favourite musical.............dunno. Its between High Society, Meet Me In St Louis, On The Town and Guys And Dolls. And I like Top Gun too.

Ocean's 11 is in my opinion one of the few good examples of a remake. I see it as more of an update, and I think the plots are similar enough.
