Having listened to the show for years and obviously being a fan of all the team...I still wonder about Comedy Dave....He is'nt really that funny.
In fact arguably Dominic comes across as a funnier...Thoughts please

When Chris transferred to drive time in 1998, Dave went with him and accquired the moniker 'Comedy Dave'. This was a deliberately ironic name (as per "Little John"), to highlight the fact that he wasn't very funny at all.

Apparently they used to call me Superdave in the office, but when I started to work on the show as a broadcast assistant, the Comedy Dave name came. Chris was talking to the comedian Lee Hirst, who was the guest that day, and I was in the back of the studio hanging about. I piped in with something and it made Lee Hirst laugh. Chris said, "Oh listen to Comedy Dave in the corner", and it stuck from there.

I first met Dave when I joined Radio 1. I just thought he was very funny.

Once, Dave accidentally took Radio 1 off the air. I was in the office listening to Simon Mayo when it just stopped. Everyone was running around panicking. I went down to the studio where I bumped into Dave coming out of the racks room (where all the wires are). I told him we were off the air, and he wandered back into that room and within 10 seconds we were back. He said he was helping out technically - just doing some rewiring. Ever since that day there's been a combination lock on that door.

I kind of imagine Chris' book will be like this... hopefully.

No, Dave isn't funny in person, but he writes some damn funny stuff. Dom's dry wit and one-liners just crease me up. I've found myself laughing more at the little retorts Dom's come out with lately, than anyone else on the show bar Chris.

The head-shaving episode had me in stitches. Dom ruled that show, hands down.

Once saw a pic of Dave on Google of him dressed as the court jestor or maybe it was the joker in a pack of cards - it'll have been on one of his chris moyles telly shows.

It most definitely is an ironic name given deliberately for being supposedly unfunny. I think Dave is pretty funny though, i mean not in the same league as Billy Connolly, Ricky Gervais, Darian O'Briein, Bill Bailey etc obviously but still a good laugh.

I still cannot get my head around the Dom being funny business. I am obviously in a minority but i have never even tittered at anything Dom has said. Usually he just annoyes me with his comments. Maybe i am biased because ever since he said hes a vegetarian i want to slap him and that still annoyes me now. Also, the 'in jokes' with his impressions sucks. His Ronnie Corbett impression is so bad that it hurts.

Dave writes all the material for the show - of course he's funny! His laugh alone is enough to make me almost do a Carrie not to mention his mathematic ability!
